Maritime School offering discounted STCW course IN SEPTEMBER ONLY to prepare boat crews for the season

The Maritime School of the West Indies, located in Marina Royale Marigot, announced today that they are offering a discounted STCW course to boat crew so that they are well prepared for the busy upcoming yachting season with this mandatory license.

The IMO ( International Maritime Organization ) requires that ALL crew including dive instructors, ferry services, fishing boats, catamarans and other day charter boats, lagoon cruises as well as all other vessels working with paying passengers have the “Standard of Training and Certification of Watch Keepers Certificate” ( STCW ).
Coast Guard and harbor authorities conduct regular controls of crew paperwork to see if they have the necessary licenses. When a crewmember on a boat with paying passengers is found to be without the STCW they have the right to prohibit the boat from sailing.
The course has been updated from STCW’95 to STCW’2010 and now includes also a half day of
Maritime Security Awareness course. (Piracy etc.)

The Maritime School of the West Indies STCW’2010 course is the official all over the world recognized course and is instructed over six ( 6 ) days.

The safety training course covers Fire Fighting, Sea Survival, First Aid, Social Responsibilities and Maritime Security.

The MSWI teaches also the Master of Yachts 200 Ton, Small Powerboat and RIB course, VHF Radio, PWC course (for Jet Ski’s and Wave Runners) and many other World Wide and MCA recognized courses.
The school is also planning to start with a 500 Ton captain’s license course soon.

The Maritime School of the West Indies started the first Crew Training Courses in the Caribbean about 11 years ago as the first official recognized Maritime School and is affiliated with IYT WORLDWIDE in Canada.
They are also recognized by all the local governments.
In addition to the marine related courses, the school teaches also Safety Courses from the “Nederlands Instituut voor Bedrijfsveiligheid” for Hotels, Time Share, Shops and businesses as well as FAA “In Flight Fire Fighting and Prevention and In Flight First Aid” courses for airline pilots and airport employees.

The special discounted STCW’2010 course starts Monday September 14th, 2015.
Regular rate is Euro 1080 or US $ 1190 and the special discount course is offered for only Euro 907 or US $1000.
Payment can be done with a credit card securely on line in the web site or by phone or by first contacting by e-mail for other payment options.

The Maritime School of the West Indies is located Marina Royale 20 in Marigot Saint Martin (Lagoon side) and easily accessible by dinghy or car.
The MSWI office opened again after the summer break Monday August 31, 2015.
